Charlie McFail, Track and Field Head Coach
Charlie McFail became head coach for the Tigers track and field program in the 2021-22 school year.
“It may have surprised some people who don’t think of me as a track coach, but I have a total of 17 years of experience, including coaching track for several years at Missouri Valley College,” he said. “Unlike football, which is the ultimate team sport, track and field allows athletes to strive for and achieve goals as individuals. I am looking forward to helping as many Smith-Cotton athletes as possible set and reach high goals. As a team, my goal is to win a conference championship.”
Smith-Cotton Athletic Director Rob Davis is excited to have McFail take over the track program.
“Coaching both track and football provides an excellent opportunity to build numbers for both programs,” Davis said. “As an assistant coach over the years, he has mentored many of our top athletes in several different events. That, combined with his leadership ability, made for an easy decision for him to become our new head track coach.”
